HeliRussia 2016 – the largest European helicopter expo – opens in Moscow
Today, May 19, marked the grand opening of the 9th International Helicopter Industry Exhibition HeliRussia 2016 in Moscow. This is a significant annual event for the industry, which sums up all year’s work for all industrial companies. The expo takes place in halls №3 and 4 of the pavilion № 1 at the IEC “Crocus Expo” (“Myakinino” metro station) and lasts till May 21.
HeliRussia 2016 is held in under Order #1140-R of Russian Government dated as of June 19th 2015, and is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation with the support of Helicopter Industry Association. Russian Helicopters is the title sponsor of the expo, Exclasses Holding, the exclusive distributor of the AgustaWestland helicopters, is the general sponsor. HeliRussia 2016 is unique in demonstrating products of both civilian and military range.
This year expo shows the increased interest in medical helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). HeliRussia 2016 showcases 14 helicopters, with two medevac – the Russian Ansat and European H135. There are 16 UAV models as well.
HeliRussia 2016 have gathered 219 companies, including 45 foreign, from 16 countries: Russia, Belarus, Lithuania, USA, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Norway, Canada, Switzerland, South Africa and the Czech Republic. The scale of the involvement of international companies in the expo grows: for example, this year the GIFAS (French Association of Aerospace Industry) organizes the exhibition of French industrial companies at the united French stand.
New multipurpose Mi-171A2 and Mi-38 helicopters will be on display among the Russian developments, as well as the light helicopter Ansat, which will be shown in VIP-version in addition to medevac. The new generation of Russian helicopters is entering the market to strengthen the position of Russian helicopter industry. For example, the Mi-171A2 helicopter is represented in the color scheme of a potential foreign operator.
Exposition of helicopters from Western companies, such as AgustaWestland, Airbus Helicopters, Bell Helicopter and Robinson Helicopter is saturated as well: popular in Russia R44 and R66 light helicopters will be shown, as well as the AW119KE VIP-version for corporate clients. AW139 and Bell 407 will be displayed as well – licensed production of these two models is organized in Russia. In addition, the HeliRussia 2016 will showcase H130 and H135. By the way, the medevac H135 has arrived to Russia on a special demonstration tour.
Besides the big helicopter industry corporations, HeliRussia 2016 demonstrates the development of smaller and independent developers both from Russia and from other countries. Visitors can get acquainted with the project of a light helicopter AP-55 and ultralight air scooter “Micron”. Both Russian aircrafts features a coaxial rotor scheme and are focused on the mass market. The German company Volocopter will hold a presentation of a unique electric helicopter-multicopter VC200.
HeliRussia 2016 extensive program includes production and services of the helicopter industry enterprises, service providers and helicopters operators. The expo annually shows a huge range of accessories and optional equipment for helicopters. This year the new models of Tango aviation headsets, procedural Airbus Helicopters H145 simulator and specialized ground equipment made of aluminum alloys for aircraft maintenance are shown among other equipment.
Much attention from Russian and international participants are expected to innovative Russian systems for serial and developing helicopters. HeliRussia 2016 will demonstrate complex avionics for helicopters and airplanes general aviation dubbed KBO-42T, laser optical-electronic suppression station from new-generation helicopters protection system “President-S”, target designation and indication system NSCI-V and on-board radar N-025E of the Mi-28N(E) “Night Hunter” attack helicopter. Avionics and systems of the new Russian helicopter Ka-62 will be shown as well.
Many multirole UAVs, such as Dan-2, Geoskan, CopterExpress, Delta-M, Supercam S350, and Raven-500 will be showcased in line of other domestic-made and foreign aircrafts. UAV pilot school will be working for HeliRussia 2016 visitors, UAV demonstration flights will be arranged, as well as spectacular “Drone Racing”, which will be held on Saturday, May 21.
HeliRussia 2016 business program includes more than 50 international conferences, seminars and round tables devoted to the problems facing the helicopter industry and related industries, as well as company presentations and award ceremonies for the winners of aviation contests. This year HeliRussia 2016 hosts the international conference “Industry of Unmanned Aircraft Systems”, which covers legal and technical issues of the developing industry.
“Helicopter Market: Reality and Perspectives” conference has long been a hallmark of HeliRussia. It’s where Honeywell (USA) experts analyzes and forecasts the global helicopter market, as well as providing data on the helicopter market in Russia.
“Air Ambulance & Medical Evacuation” international scientific-practical conference is another traditional event held at HeliRussia since 2012. During this time, the conference has become the largest event in Russia to discuss wide range of air ambulance and medical evacuation issues and development of its potential as well as improvement of aviation rescue techniques. The format of open discussion and an interdisciplinary approach attracts professionals from different areas.
Experts and representatives of government departments will also discuss offshore helicopter flights, the design of aircrafts, counterfeiting in the supply and other important topics at HeliRussia 2016. The business program of the expo is recognized motivator of the helicopter industry, which facilitates the introduction of the most advanced techniques, standards and approaches.
